Great question and I have to say that reading it made me laugh. Oh course it doesn't. If the mindset and pettiness of many in this forum were to determine the outcome of our next election, we'd be in bigger trouble than we are now.

That's one of the reasons why I'm losing interest over here. There are some days when it's fun and others when it's an absolute waste of time.

Thanks for the morning laugh! :)

I would hope that people would be open to asking questions and discussing politics and that would change/influence peoples' views. But if it doesn't perhaps we should just skip the election all together.

It obviously wont determine the outcome or Y!A would actually be the election (???), but I hope discussion will influence people. Loaded question, gets a loaded answer.

I am of the belief that the outcome of the election will be determined by a vote of 2000-3000 ultra rich families who probably meet every four years to pick the next puppet that will do their bidding.

Maybe yes, maybe no, depends on how close the election actually is. A few votes either way can make all the difference in the world. It's nice to have a place on the web to air your opinions, even if only one other person reads it. Good luck to all and keep pressing our elected officials to be accountable and honorable.

Determine? No. Influence? Perhaps. Anything that makes people think about and defend or re-think their positions is a good thing. I have very strong conservative positions and I enjoy defending them with good substantive arguments. Some simply vent and spew vitriol. People will read these responses. That can influence their thinking.

No since it is not a representative slice of America for so many reasons (sort of like polls conducted by Liberal media outlets, very biased, but in this case, instead of being biased toward the Left, there is a bimodal bias, extreme Left and extreme right). But it is fun.

My essays, writings are posted at other sites as well.
Do they have an effect ? maybe, maybe not, but what do you suggest? this forum provides an opportunity to exchange political philosophies, if you are not interested , you don't have to post.

I think its mostly people blowing steam but Yahoo did react to GOP pressure to stifle opinion after the landslide Dem upset in 2006.
