The following article covers a protest by students against Ahmadinejad speaking at Tehran University. Are these 'bad' liberals because they are critical of his crackdown on dissent and free expression?

Some nice responses.
Being 'liberal' has nothing to do with wanting more governament control. 'Liberalism' and "socialism' are not synonymous.

White Feather, did you follow the link? If your reasoning is true, then the rest of the planet must assume that all Americans are ultra-conservative, fundamentalist Christians bent on war.

People seeking less government control over their lives would be considered conservatives here in the U.S.A.

In all seriousness the label of conservative and liberal have different meanings depending on the government in power.
For instance, in a communist government liberals would be seeking more freedom. In a free country, liberals seek more government control.

The titles are relative.

Nope, "liberal" doesn't apply here. Demanding your freedom is one thing...demanding everybody else's money to pay for socialist entitlement programs is another.

Thought provoking question, but seems stilted in favor of the left.

Nice try, no cigar.

Great question! Liberalism is the march for individual freedoms and it is refreshing to see it carried out in Iran!
