I don't think a person ever forgets but instead learns hopefully why that did not work out and that makes the next love better. It would be a perfect world if everyone found love the first time and made it work - that does happen - but usually the first love happens before the people involved have experienced enough life to appreciate it and how to make it grow so it dies and they move on with only a memory - usually of only the good parts and not the bad so the the first love is always still in the mind somewhere.

How old are you? If you are still a teenager, then you are still young. But forget? No. Why would you want to? Never ever be sorry something is over. Be glad that you got to experience it, and hopefully learn from it. Nothing is forever. If you grow up and have a child, and it dies, don't let it ruin your entire rest of your life. Be glad that that child was part of your experience, and think what you would have missed had you never had that child. Sad? Oh, sure.
Is divorce sad? Oh sure. But the only way to never be sad and never feel is to never venture. Never fall in love, never get married, never have a family, never make any friends, and never own a pet. Then you will never be hurt, but..... Pretty sterile, huh? ahhh, but safe. Your choice. Drink of the beauty of life, be the best person you can, or sit in a corner somewhere, safe, and......... (you decide..).
Helpful?

I don't think so unless you've officially damaged your brain or some memory loss. The truth I don't think you can forget love but you can avoid and think about something else to focus on. You will always remember if something strikes up your mind. It doesn't mean you can't cope with it. The 1st love is important in some ways but the best way is to think of the present and future, and not dwell on the past. You won't forget it though it will remain but you will be happy that it's your personal and very first experience and that makes you unique.

I can't speak for the men out there, but I know I will never forget my first love. I don't think about him everyday, or wish that I was still with him, but I will never forget the experience we shared.
If you are trying to get over a broken heart, you will - with time. The first time you fall in love, it is very intense. It is a very hard thing to let go of, but eventually you will move on. Hopefully it was a good experience for you!!

I have always heard that you never forget your first love. I believe it. My soon to be ex husband was my first love and I won't forget him. (we have a son together, also) Our marriage is over because he was unfaithful...but I feel that I will always love him. I think in some way all of us will always love our first love. But I do think it is possible to find someone else that we love just as much or even more. Or at least I hope so! :)

I have heard stories and stories about this same question. I can only go from what I know. I have never gotten over my first love. We both have been with other people. He married someone else, I never married, but had three children by someone. We reconnected, and are now going to be married. Through the last 22 years, I never got over him. I guess it's possible to move on with another person, but I don't know about totally getting over them.

Definately not. My first love was when I was 22 years old. It was a very passionate love that imploded leaving both of us hurt. Now 10 years later we have reconnected and have some closure to our relationship.
We both made mistakes and both regret things that happened, but I still love him and seeing his photograph brough back a lot of memories, both good and bad.
But I am married now and have 2 children, so time has passed. But there will always be a part of me that adores and loves him.

It depends on how serious the relationship was. For me, my 1st love lasted only for several months, so now, I still have memories of it, but have no feelings attached to it. I think you will not forget it, but whether or not you still have feelings for the person depends on how serious or strong the 1st love was.

Maybe ..just depends on you and what's happening in your life.
It's not such a bad thing to remember such a special moment in your life and the first love is always something that will be embedded in your memory. Just don't become so obsessive about it. As you progress through your life and meet others the memory will fade.

To forget? maybe not, but how much effort goes into thinking about her/him years later? not much. Time takes care of a lot. You change, and when you do, the idea of that first love becomes less than what it means right now.
