Do you think Steinnbrenner was trying to juice up the team by saying that? Or, did he mean it?

I still think the Indians will win it................the Yankees are no match for Cleveland . Could you believe the bug phenomeon?

No - think that the Yankees just got there bats together finally. don't think THE BOSS's statement was any extra motivation for the team. If i was Torre, i would want to leave about now anyway - they haven't missed the playoffs in like 13 seasons and his job is on the line every year ? Cmon !!!! I grew up in MD rooting for the O's ( live in NYC now ) - we would have died for a stretch like that... !!!

I hope he didn't mean it, I am a Red Sox fan but have alot of respect for Joe Torre. As for the bugs, that was crazy! I was trying to keep an eye on that game (being the Red Sox fan that I am) and I couldn't even handle watching it! Poor guys!

I think he meant it, but in any case, I do think it motivated the team to win. But they didn't just win for Torre, players win for themselves more than anything. Don't worry about any bugs tonight - with a "byrd' pitching, he'll simply eat the bugs!

If the Yankees are no match for Cleveland, how did they win the game? Don't even give me the excuse that they let them win, I don't think Victor Martinez would've thrown his bat in the locker room in frustration if they let them win, would they?

If you accept that premise you'd have to be willing to think that if the Yankees lose it's because they want Torre to be fired - and that is just absurd.

Steinbrenner is a chicken idiot. By saying what he did he absolved himself in any blame. If the Yanks lose, he will blame it all on Torre. If they win, he will claim credit for "motivating" the team.

Don't buy into that crap.

If he was that's a pretty crappy way to do it. As if they weren't under enough pressure before. As for the bugs I've never seen anything like it before in my life. I think the Yankees would be up right now if it wasn't for them.
