My husband has a deer head mounted, and I was wondering if there is any special things I need to do to keep it clean? I heard someone putting Murphy's Oil Soap on the fur to keep up the shine, but I was too worried about that! PLEASE HELP!! Thank you!!

Depending on how old it is and how loose its fur is
Dust it with a can duster like made for computers, careful not too close you dont want to pressure hose off the fur which can be fragile on old mounts.

Wipe it with a fabric softener sheet, it removes residues and shines the fur, (can also be used on live pets where it helps remove allergens and dander ).

Make sure no one smokes in the room with the mount, tobacco residue will never come out of it totally.

Some people use dry cleaning chemicals that are brushed on and wiped or blown off with air, I have always been a bit leary they would damage a mount over years of use.

My mom uses aerosol air duster, and sprays the air on it gently to keep the dust, and debris off the fur. I've never heard the Murphy's Oil idea, but being that it's made for floors....?!?! I do know that you can take about a 1/2 cup of fabric softener and rub it into the deer's fur, and it will shine it up and smell really fresh! :o)

Why would you want it in your house anyway?
