I think it's a goldfish but I don't have any fish food. I've had it since last night and I need to know if there are foods around the house that I can feed it.

Not too many things would be healthy to feed the fish but if it was fed regularly at the pet store you won't have to feed it for a while and you can still get food at a pet store in the meantime.

Gold fish can last up to 3 days with out food. So u should have enough time to get food for your fish.
It is not wise to feed your fish household items such as human food, because humans put to many dies and chemicals in our food and if you were to feed your fish these foods they would die instantly or in a couple of days because of the chemical imbalance.

I dont suggest using anything other then fish food as real food will create a bacteria condition in your tank.
Fish food is balanced to reduce the amonia that your fish will expell. If you feed them real food, it will cost you more in the long run.
If you do this, change the water shortly thereafter as this will create an adverse habitat for the fish.

Well...what type of fish do you have? That really does make a difference. Some fish eat plants(your household veggies like cabbage and cartots) and others eat meat (ham burger-slices of chicken or ham) And other fish eat just about anything, while others will only eat one type of food that you NEED to buy. So research your type of fish and see what kinds of foods they eat, and then look around your house to see if you have any of those things!Hope this helps!

Fishes are not dogs, you can only feed them fish food. Which in fact fish food is smash fish organs, so if you have some at your house, smash them and feed them.

One time I fed my fish with small bread pieces.. I think he loved coz he keeps eating that instead of the usual pet food.. But be sure to not leave any bread crumbs in the water.. It would cause the water to become dirty..

Bread bloats up and kills birds and fish. But the toaster will make them crispy.
