It sounds like you need to go into the bios and set the boot order to look at the CD or DVD drive first. If you already have that setting, some of the older windows OS require a boot disk to install windows.

If you need instructions on changing the bios, drop me an email.

Good luck,
Z

If your computer is more than 3 years old (or so), the first thing to do is change the cmos battery on the mobo. The standard is a cr2032...it looks like a watch battery but is about the size of a u.s. quarter. Make sure the power is off before you do the change, then start the computer, reset bios, restart, and take it from there. The batteries are usually cheap and most older computers seem to have other problems when it's really the battery going bad.

You need to give us more info - which version of Windows did you re-install when you 'wiped the entire computer clean'? Did it *ever* boot into Windows after you did that? Did it completely install or give you an error then? And last, we need the exact error message, not "or something like that" - there are dozens of error messages, so to help you we need to know exactly which one you are getting.

You FIX IT by taking it to SOMEONE who knows what they are doing. You should NOT be trying to fix it yourself. You obviously don't have the skills if you had "so many viruses" to begin with.

Swallow your pill and spend the 300 bucks to fix it.

And stop downloading crap that gives you viruses. Like shareware stuff, movies, music, free(illegal) software etc.
