If I post a question stating my opinion on an issue and asking for other people's opinions, I have NO problem if someone politely says "I disagree with you. I think this....." but if someone says "OMG! How can you think that, what an idiot you are!!!" then I will be offended, YET if I mention it to the user, I am told that I am unfair as I get upset if people disagree with me. Untrue!

Thoughts!???

I don't take it personal.

I simply consider the source and say a silent prayer for the offender's eternal soul.

Most people have strong opinions, which they feel the need to share. It's fairly common for a person to get over-zealous with their sharing, so that it changes from a rationally presented view, to an aggressive and obscene "shouting" of beliefs. It helps that since this is online, they'll never have to answer for their behavior towards the person face to face. It's annoying, but I myself have been guilty of this on a few occasions, so I can't complain too much (though I really do try to keep myself civil online).

Often, people are not really asking question, they are just using YA to post their opinions and then say "What about you?" I don't find these to be good questions, since the asker will only pick someone who agrees with them as the Best Answer anyway. If you truly want opinions, don't include yours in the question.

This is the problem with stating opinions. Everyone has their own and tends to believe it is the truth. There are many "flaming trolls" here just looking to start trouble. I have seen entries in the blog requesting that there be an Opinion section at YA to seperate them from Q&A's, which are supposed to be facts, not opinions.

Not All People have an open mind. So if it doesn't fit, they will try to break it.
Just ignore the rude ones.
Remember, an opinion is just that, an opinion. Subject to 'opiniated' upon };)

Well, aren't you the only person who NEVER gets upset. After reading your thoughts, you seem a little perturbed by some of our question or answers. Look some days we are tree-huggers and some days we are earth disturbers. Today I choose to be both. Who will you be today?

That's the problem, those people are completely disrespectful. I think our society would get along much better if more people were open minded, and except others for their differences.

Good point, and I agree!

Perhaps the problem is with the questioners - especially those who, without thinking for themselves, spew the 'party line' of the far right with the tired old comments about 'liberals' being the source of all evil.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRING

They get the answers they deserve.

A lot of people on here toe party line mentality to score thumbs ups. They don't care about logic. They just want to see how many people agree with their party logic.
