I'm not really sure how viable that party might be. We would need to look at their platform and it would require a lot of money......

It would not be viable, any more than the Greens have been. It is a similar splinter group. While there are many people who sympathize with the evangelicals they represent an unforgiving viewpoint which does not resonate in a political environment.

Hardly. Because of the abortion issue the Christian right is in a corner. They can't support Rudy so they are faced with being a Republican splinter group if he gets the nomination.
A Christian right candidate would get a maximum of 10% of the vote and most probably less than 5%. However, they would wreck the small chance a Republican has to beat Clinton.

Takeover is such a strong word. And so is threat. A 3rd party of Evangelicals would be a VERY stong 3rd party though. Many, if not the majority, of Americans relate to Dobson.

Nope, they won't be much of a blip on the radar screen. If anything they will draw votes away from the Republicans ensuring and even bigger Democratic victory.

Dobson is yet to understand why there is a concept of seperation of church and state in America.
The evangelical 3rd party idea will fail. Groups have tried before, and has failed every single time.

No. They threaten this every election in order to get their talking points in the Republican platform. I wish they would create a 3d party and then we could see how truly powerless they are. They wouldn't get into double digits.

Nope, but they will take one of the most easily brainwashed groups out of the GOP. This would allow the DNC to actually win an election, probably not with a majority of the popular vote, but a plurality is good enough thanks to the electoral college.
