Why are people wearing those cross tattoos on their arms and legs--sincere religious expression --or fad?

it's a mixture of both. older people with crosses are more often sincere.

I have a celtic cross on my left calf. The reason? In honor of my Irish and Scotish roots (where the celts came from ) and in rememberance of my grandmother (very very Irish)

peronally, i think that people shouldnt tattoo crosses onto their body its disrespectful, and if you want to tell people about your religion, then tell them, or wear one. esp. if your not christian, but trying to make it seem as though you are one, or even making a fashion statement is worse.
