It will be a ratings nightmare only b/c of the fact the media themselves makes it seem as if nobody cares b/c it's not no big market team involved.

If baseball is only about the big market teams, then it has already lost it's appeal. Personally, I'm going to love watching this series because it is the small market teams that are in it. I'm tired of seeing the World Series of $100 million payroll teams all the time. Who cares if you can buy yourself one. These are the teams that deserve it, the ones that don't have those resources yet use what they have to win.

From a marketing point of view, maybe this will be a series with lower ratings that will impact the money MLB earns. However, from a true fan's standpoint, it's great to see these teams that truly deserve it doing well.

Because it's all about money, most years we're going to have to watch teams like the Yankees and Red Sox buy their way into the playoffs again, while the "smaller" teams have to keep fighting to try to just get into the playoffs. Teams in the big markets don't even appreciate getting to the playoffs anymore. They believe a season is a disaster if they don't make it. However, the smaller market teams truly understand what it means to be in the playoffs and treat it with that respect. Maybe that's why the small market teams of Arizona and Colorado are in the NLCS while the bigger market teams of Philadelphia and Chicago are out.

well i know i will be watching this series. but really, at the beginning of the season, who would have thought that the nlcs would be arizona against the rockies. the rockies? they haven't been to the playoffs since...............ever. the dbacks are okay but now their awesome with a hell of a bullpen. the rockies have plenty of hitters and the pitchers have gotten together in the end. but to me, this will be exciting. i'm all for the underdogs.

I'll watch...I love when 2 teams everyone said would go nowhere prove everyone wrong. It's going to be a good series. I think it will last 6 games. I think the ratings will not be high, but most people watch football over baseball.

Most probably won't except for baseball purists like myself (and I'm east of the Ol Miss).

It's a football nation, especially on TV.

It's still gonna be a fun series to watch.

OF course it will.

The bottom line is that baseball lost the majority of its fanbase long ago, as it relates to their desire to watch anyone else other than their team play.

The Yanks, Sox, Cubs, Mets, and perhaps Dodgers are an exception to that rule. Their large bandwagon fanbases and large groups of haters creates a TV demographic.

Without at least one of those teams playing, nobody cares, and it is beyond east of the Mississippi. I doubt many people outside about a 500 mile radius of those locales cares, period.

It is just what the game has become. Part of it is the nature of the game on TV. It is slow for today's Americans. Part of it is the explosion and overlap with the NFL and college football. WS ratings would be much higher if it were played mid-August before football started.
Another part of it is the series length. Too many games. Nobody wants to take that much time.

The games will be on TBS, so I'm guessing they saw this coming. The NLCS almost always gets the lower ratings.

I honestly don't think so. I know that I, although being an avid BoSox fan, was interested and excited to see the Rockies not only win their one-game wild-card, but SWEEP Philly. Many people, including myself, had expected Philly to go to the Fall Classic.

It's people from east of the Mississippi who might not care. And if it's a ratings disaster, next year they can put it on cable the way they did the division serieses this year so even fewer baseball fans can watch it.

Yes............

I am a St. Louis Cardinal fan but I love the National League (except for the Cubs)...............and I'll be watching.

However, it could be a ratings winner because of the Cinderella side of it............Rockies and Arizona are hot right now and fun to see for a true fan of the game.
