Like my boss for example. He's always walking around saying " I've been trying to lose 140lbs. for the longest time, and it's my wife."
I just don't understand this attitude at all.

I really don't think he's joking. He is always making these comments.Other male co-workers say they would rather be at work than at home with their wives.

They don't hate their wives, most of the people who said things like that made a joke out of it.
There are always things that made you mad about your husband, your wife, or your life partner - even if you are not married.
So, there is that way to let those things out without really hurting anyone.
I have an uncle who is always saying it's time to change the model, and i'm sure he is so in love with my aunt that most men i've ever known.
Many men as well, say that kind of things about hating their wifes because somehow they are looking to find some sympathy from women and look for some affair or adventure, i really think so.

Alot of older men will dislike their wives because they been with them so long. The womesns ways will take a toll on the male. Older people start setting their ways when they reach a certain age. Everything seems right when they blame it on another person

Not a nice thing to say but, some men and woman are that way. Sometimes they might think it is just teasing or they are playing around not realizing how it effects the other person or people around them.

because some men take the step, and get married, but in reality, should have been better off remaining single...but they get taken by the cuteness and or obligatory (aka baby bump) and then live life regretting marriage...while hating the wife...

mid life crisis! just like women go through menopause men do as well and as a consequence their hormones change and thereby changing their behaviour and views. I guess the wife would be the easiest target as she's the closet person to the husband

Sounds as if he is just trying to cut up, i really don't think he's serious. It is disrespectful when he makes his wife out to be the butt of his jokes..

Probably for the same reasons as the younger men.

The older men get the more wise they get.

The older women get the more unreasonable & demanding they get.

A man generally maintains his looks & figure with age.

A woman of age, well.....best I not say!!!!

So, why should a wise, attractive man spend time with a less attractive, nagging, demanding partner??

Just tell me that!

He is just a jerk. He's a jerk that got married and is still just a miserable jerk. God Bless his wife for sticking with him and keeping her vows.
