I’ve tried multimapping it, but it doesn’t come up. How near London is it? And what’s the nearest tube if it is?

There is a suburban area called Sutton (TQ260638) and a larger London borough (in which it is located) also called Sutton. Both are located in south west London and in the exterior part of the capital, i.e. 'outer London'.

The London borough borders Kingston upon Thames to the west, Merton to the north and Croydon to the east. To the south of the borough is part of the Greater London boundary with Surrey.

The town/suburb of Sutton is near to Carshalton and Cheam. It is located about 10 miles south west of Charing Cross (in the West End). Rail services from Sutton station run to Victoria, London Bridge and Blackfriars. You can interchange to the Underground at these station or at Balham (on Victoria-Sutton line). The town is identified by the GLA as one of Greater London's major metropolitan centres.

Sutton is one of the 32 boroughs that make up London - it was historically in Surrey but now is the London Borough of Sutton (in fact all of South London used to be in Surrey). It is located on the very South West edge of London. Its a reasonably prosperous suburban area which is mainly residential.

Its probably about 10-15 miles from central London - public transport wise its not on the tube but there are I think trains into London Victoria and the Thameslink line up to London Bridge, Blackfriars, Kings Cross. It is a 25-45 minutes journey time depending on which station you go into.

See http://www.sutton.gov.uk/ for further information, also http://www.bobulous.org.uk/misc/Sutton.html

Sutton rail station or Carshalton Beeches are your nearest stations. I think they're southern rail. Try www.nationalrail.co.uk for train times.
