95 chevy 5.0L c1500- after a heater core replacement. "check gauge" lite flashes for a bit then off? The temp gauge goes up then down, then all goes to normal. Its not a rapid repeat thing, just every few miles or so. But everything works as far as controls, heater, a/c, and my truck seems to be running normal. No overheating, stalling or anything, just the gauge thing. Is there a step i missed? or do i have to reset someting? WUSA-GOIN-ON HEAH?

I never had to mess with anything other than the heater core cover, and the core itself. In this model, the heater core is directly under the dash on passenger side and is quite accessible without having to get into anything else. Pulled off the cover, replaced the core (attaching to hoses), put cover back on. done job. Nothing else with gages, sensors, fuses, wires, etc. (that Im aware of)

It could be that the engine thermostat is not opening at the proper temperature or is sticking.
Not necessarily related to the heater core replacement but since the engine coolant has to be drained to replace the heater core, a good place to start looking and an easy fix.

Did you refill the antifreeze? Did you replace the thermostat?
It may be it just needs more antifreeze or there may some air still in the cooling system.
Try replacing the thermostat.

The light is sensing something wrong with one of the gages. Did you forget to hook one up or maybe improperly.
