It is such a sad thing when all yankee's fans can worry about are the bugs in Cleveland. We had to deal with them too, so get over it!!! You tried to use it as another excuse to play bad. It was what it was, so again, GET OVER IT! Why did you all want the game called? That's my question!

yes it was three days ago, but last night on TBS that's ALL they talked about, and there were so many signs in the stands from the Yankee's fans. Even the radio stations this morning were talking about how tired they are of hearing about the stupid bugs!

Its funny how New Yorkers complain about a swarm of bugs, while ignoring the Rats in the streets of New York. I hear the have a rodent problem to.

To the Indians fans above, the only reason it ISN'T a problem for you is because the Indians won.

Regardless, the umpires should have stopped play. Many objective observers have said this. Of course and obviously, if a swarm of insects is affecting players' vision, and apparently many people knew that they would disperse within 30-45 minutes or so, why not stop the game?

After all, why are baseball games stopped during rain? Because they are worried about the players getting wet? No, it's because when a guy is facing 95 mph pitches and can't see properly, it creates a safety problem.

What if Joba Chamberlain, instead of throwing a wild pitch that gave the Indians a run, had thrown a wild pitch and Travis Hafner was distracted by bugs in his eyes and up his nose and got hit in the head or something? Could've happened. What would Indian fans be saying then?

Really, it was a great game and to me, it was marred by the incident. If Cleveland had actually gottten a hit in that inning where they tied the game instead of scoring on wild pitches/hit batters I would have actually felt better about it.

But really, the media is belaboring it, not Yankees fans (you asked the question after all).

The bugs happened and they definitely had an effect on the game. But the Indians got home field for winning their division, so it's hard to cry foul if you are a Yankee fan.

The Indians had to deal with bugs 2 or 3 times during the season, so by now they are at least somewhat used to it. The Yankees were completely unprepared for the bugs. It definitely helped the Indians. The game probably should have been postponed for the same reason you postpone a game for rain, snow, or fog

a) Can't see
b) Can't really focus (if it's rain)

But it was the umpire's decision and they decided to let to game continue. And the Indians earned home field advantage, so that's that. The Yankees were lucky to be in the lead by the 7th inning, anyway--they should have given up at least 1 or 2 runs with the way they kept letting runners into scoring position.

I think they pretty much peaked when the Indians tied the score.

I mean, look you've got a rookie who was pitching at A level a few months ago who is suddenly in the playoffs pitching in a 1-0 game in the late innings. A rookie with phenomenal control who combinded in minors and majors this season struck out 169 and walked only 33 batter. And suddenly he is swarmed with flies and walks 2 and throws 2 wild pitches.

Don't tell me that the bugs weren't the cause.

Without the bug swarms, the Yankees would be up 2-1 and the Indians would be crying because Carmona pitched a beautiful 1 run game and was outpitched by Pettitte, Chamberlain and Rivera.

But, what happened, happened. Game 4 tonight. Play on.

If Cleveland knew there could be a bug problem and took steps to avoid it without telling the NY Yankees, that's called "home field advantage"

It's like having the fences at various distances to suit your team, the cutting of your outfield, the hardness of your basepaths.

It's all part of that GREAT strategic game of baseball, something the other sports don't have.
LOVE IT.

And this one negatively affected the NY Yankees. I am assuming that cologne probably attracted them more.

The only people who are really weeping about it are the guys on TV. The guys on radio were telling people to shut up about the bugs right after the game. Some fans were complaining because there were more bugs when Joba was pitching or something. Yeah, it looked like they were all over him, and they weren't all over Carmona. Who cares? If you can pitch in the rain, you can pitch in bugs. There was no unfair advantage for either team.

It's because the Yankee's lost. If they Yankee's won it would have been a non-issue. I wonder why the bugs didn't stop Carmona from pitching 9 innings of great baseball.

Edit: I find it funny that you think this the bugs were deliberate, it happened earlier this year when the Angels came to do. Also what would you like the Indians to do, drain Lake Erie, because that is where they came from. Also please explain how come the bugs didn't affect the Indians? You can't you just like to use it as an excuse for why the Yankees lost.

The announcers were pounding it ti death, but interstingly- it was never an issue here in NYC.
NOT ONE fan I know blamed the bugs.
Not One.
Joba said they didn't bother him as the other team had to deal with the same thing.
The announcers and the media are latchimng on to what ever they can to make a story.
Every Yankee quoted on the subject- from Torre on down has said the bugs were a non issue.
The ONE Exception?
Roger Clemens, who felt they should have delayed the game.
However, He's a mercenary, so who cares about him or his opinin?

So....why are you still....bugged about it?

When you watch these games on TBS, remeber that these guys don't have a ton of experience with announcing. So they think they need to fill the time talking about Bugs.

Plus,

Have you ever seen anything like that before????

I haven't.

Actually, nobody's talking about it now. Whoever is talking about it is just joking. It was three days ago, and funny things like that pass.
