Why have women contributed so little to our society, culture and civilization?

I agree with the above poster, Jeff H; it can be attributed to the lack of opportunity, desire and ability. Most rational conclusion thus far.

By the way, Rebel F, you women will never be a man's equal. For a start, you women haven't even invented a single thing that's useful to mankind. And you've had years to do so...

If you're implying that women have "done a hell of a lot more than" men have by virtue of giving birth to those that provided the greatest contribution, such a Benjamin Franklin, then only the DUMBEST of men would acknowledge that.

Does that mean women are to blame for the actions of all the murderers in history, who they gave birth to? According to your logic, yes.

The human race could not continue if babies weren't being born. And you know you're completely wrong about women contributing so little to society. There are many professional women out there. There are almost no jobs that a woman can't do that a man could. Being a mom is also something to be proud of and a real job too. Good moms who instill good values, morals and ethics in their children do a lot to better the world. It is sad that you don't realize this.

What? You need to do a bit of research. Women have done a whole lot of contributing, often without recognition.

Example: There is a U.S. Coast Guard Bouy Tender that serves in the New York City vicinity. It is named the Katherine Walker.

most likely, women invented farming crops (so they wouldn't have to go so far to gather, since they were busy WEAVING and making textiles and other household items--most of which were also invented by women) [think needles, cloth, cooking utensils, food storage, etc]
farming lead to actual civilization.
not to mention, the whole sustaining & raising children thing.
and that's not even getting into specifics...

its people like you, who look down on women, that created the need for feminism in the first place. if women (& raising children & doing important household stuff) were respected instead of debased, the whole system would have worked a bit better. instead, feminism had to help women get out from under the oppression of such fools as YOU, who consider women worthless regardless of what they do.

Well, before the suffragets they didn't even have the right to vote! In the past, women weren't really treated like human beings, it was difficult to get an education and no one took them seriously, which meant they had very few oppertunities. But there are many women who overcame these obstacles eg:Marie Curie, who won two nobel prizes and discovered radium.
