Interesting question, I was also thinking of buying a small farm near some power lines in a village in eastern Europe.
I wondered about the power lines I heard they weren't healthy,I think it was on 60minutes or some other TV news show. I think something to do with brain damage in kids ,not sure but who needs to find out the hard way?
We passed on the farm, too bad it was cheap and close to a lake that was good for fishing and swimming. The house was also made from mud walls and we thought it may fall apart if we weren't there all year long.

Although there are plenty of arguments for and against living near high tension cable,s .Around our area the houses that are near or underneath power lines tend not to sell quickly a point to bear in mind if you buy. I have family that work in a leading northern power supplier and no one will live anywhere near power lines in any shape or form .Recent research tends to suggest that it isn't too healthy living close to them .

Dude, they are 250 meters away. Your in much more danger from that cell phone your using. The electromagnetic fiends EMF form power lines don't extend out that far. You would have to build a tree house within a few feet of them to be in danger.

i lived about 100 yds. from high tension lines and swam in our community pool which was about 20 yds. from them for 14 yrs. never had any ill effects and that was about 25 yrs. ago but i would not say that it is safe as every one is effected differently by things. i would say if you are not comfortable living close to the lines look else where. why burden yourself with the worry.
