I would not be so quick to accept that as truth. For example, if all someone does on the internet is reads in online scholarly journals, I would doubt that they have a reduction in intelligence afterward. That is a generalization that is being made and generalizations are a big no no in my book. Aside from that, what is the source? And has a true experiment been done to test that hypothesis, or is this just correlational evidence via naturalistic observation?

Unless silicone exposure reduces your IQ, I'd say it's a myth. The internet's a new medium, so people are doing the traditional freak-out over it. In the end, though, how useful or how dangerous it is depends on the user, not on the thing itself. A lot of us use the Internet to talk to people and to learn new things. That can only broaden your horizons. Others may spend all their time staring at porn and Jack@ss style clips on Youtube. That's probably not helping them any.
It's the same as with books. If you read only poorly-written romance novels and spy thrillers, it may be relaxing, but it's not a very intellectual activity. But if you toss in at least a few classics or newspapers or modern classics, you learn new things and have your brain exercised. It's not the written word's fault what you personally choose, though.

How could the internet possibly reduce intelligence? I've learned more sharing information on here than I do at school. It's a lie.

It can only reduce intelligence if you're on the internet when you should be studying!!
Other than that being on the internet is usually a learning experience

I've found that dubstep improves your concentration and creativity skills, and I have also found that it improves your musical inclination. These are all very important factors in intelligence. To the fellow who earned top answer: The theory that your IQ is not subject to improvement is a false rumor. I can say myself. My IQ increased from 115 to 131 in half a year.

Intelligence? Not necessarily.
Reduce creativity/ Definately!
Example: high school students doing research. instead of having to go to a library and doing research which may be time consuming and difficult, it's far easier to google it and print. The stuident never gets the feeling of reward coming as a result of effort and achievement.
