I'm glad somebody else knows about what Columbus did instead of giving him always "credit" to have discovered America!

Have talked to a Lakota couple (and other folks) on a site for some years now...I suppose I could say something although I'd rather not bring attention to a holiday set to celebrate such wounds that are best left in the back of people's minds. I know they may have some bitter feelings over it and would rather not help put it in their minds anymore then it already is. They already know the feelings (and sympathy) of our group of e-friends.

A good chunk of that 85% was at the hands of Columbus himself, too. Just the kind of guy we want to honor with a federal holiday. :D

Nah. I wouldn't want some white dude apologizing to me for slavery! They had nothing to do with it!
Instead, donate to a charitable organization that serves Native Americans.

I didn't wipe out anyone, so why should I apologize? That's like saying we should pay reparations to the ancestors of slaves, even though we had nothing to do with it. All I have to say is get over it, sh-- happens.
