Now it looks like I'm going to be layoff, because I know they are hiring someone else for the same position that I was suppose to be in. I've been waiting for a space and this has been going on for 3-4 months. I need some ideas.

ask your boss to reconsider you for that position, ask if there is something you need to learn about first, do anything it takes to show you are up for that job

First:
1. Are you dependent on the job you currently have?
2. Is the current position and upward mobility position?
3. Is there anything you can learn in the position you are in now?
4. Are there benefits that are competitive with the position you wanted?
5. Are you certain that you were being interviewed for the position you wanted, or did you hope you would get the position?

Consider your answers to the above questions, then move forward with:
1. Approach your supervisor or resource manager about the issue.
2. Ask if you should be preparing for a layoff... but don't appear insecure.
3. Be stellar in the position you have now and not vindictive... you never know. Sometimes reacting to the unknown can cause defeat in a battle that never was. Be clear about what you thought you were hired for, but don't complain if your work performance has been substandard. (I'm not saying that it was.)

if your contract says precisely what job you were hired to do, then you can go to the person in charge and ask to be put on the job you were hired to do. If your contract does not state specifically what job you were hired to do, I'm afraid the company can put you wherever they want.

Your best bet is to arrange a meeting with your boss and explain the situation. Explain that you have been patient to wait for this roll and feel you deserve it. Also explain that you know the company and therefore will save them time in going through the procedure of hiring and training someone else.

Sometimes, standing up for yourself pays off big time. So, good luck!!

In today's job market companies are shitting on their employees left and right because they simply feel that they can. They know people have to work to pay off their enormous debts and they play this mind game. Best solution, start thinking of ways where u can work for yourself. Dig deep into your creative thinking box and think of something you can do for yourself that you enjoy, so that you dont keep getting caught in this employment rat race.
