PS3 will win the console war, no doubt. Xbox 360 and Wii are so weak from technological point of view, that in couple of years they won't be capable of dealing with serious graphics. GTA IV, for instance, isn't even announced for Wii - this toy won't be able to cope with the game's requirements. Xbox 360 is getting GTA IV, however, the game is going to be released on several DVDs - Xbox 360 owners will have to interrupt gaming process and switch discs (Rockstar complained about this issue). Only PS3 will have it on single BD-DVD.
Let's compare PS3 and XBOX 360:
A third of XBOX 360 (33%) are malfunctioning right from the start. PS3 return rate is only around 0.2%.
PS3 has 7+1 kernels in Cell processor, Xbox 360 -only 3x2
PS3 uses advanced tech called Blu-Ray, one disc can store up to 54 gb (in the future - up to 200 gb), Xbox 360 - regular dual layer DVD-9 (8.5GB). It's possible to get HD-DVD (max. - 30GB) for 360, but it'll cost you around 180$, in this case Xbox is going to be MUCH more expensive, than PS3.
Calculations per sec - PS3 - 51-billion-dot-product-operati... per second
Xbox 360 - 33.6-billion-dot-product-opera... per second
PS3 has full media support - USBs, built-in card reader (except 20 gb version), ability to use printer and so on.
Xbox 360 has USBs and only 2 memory slots.
PS3 supports up to 7 Bluetooth Controllers
Xbox 360 - up to 4 Controllers
PS3 - wi-fi included (except 20 gb version)
Xbox 360 - wi-fi will cost you around 100 $
Graphics are stronger in PS3, due to RSX chip, that was developed by Nvidia exclusively for PS3. To estimate its power (roughly) - take 6800 Ultra nvidia graphics card, multiply it by 2 - get a result, still PS3 stronger, because 6800 Ultra runs on 400 Mhz and RSX runs on 550 Mhz.
PS3 uses technology from AGEIA company. It does to physics of the game same thing GPU (videocard processor) does to graphics. This thing is on sale for PC(special card). The price is around 350$. There is no such thing in 360.
Xbox 360 is widely known for so-called "red ring of death" problem - it gets overheated easily. My PS3 was running for more than 8 hours non-stop with no problems. Sometimes Xbox 360 becomes so overheated, that thermopaste on CPU melts, drips on motherboard and successfully shortcircuits it.
Besides all of this, I've seen disassembled Xbox 360 - regular PC architecture - Billy Gates is an uninventive nerd (as usual).
When I saw disassembled PS3 - it was a surprise - smart architecture, good cooling (don't buy external PS3 coolers - they make everything worse - original system is good), etc.
In 2008 PS3 will get more than 300 games, including Metal Gear Solid 4, The Agent and other great exclusives. Here is the good link to the future PS3 releases. http://ps3.ign.com/index/release.html......
PS3 online is free, Xbox 360 - you have to pay.
There were reports, that 360 scratches discs. No reports on that in PS3.
In some countries people call Xbox 360 "Coffin 360".
The funniest thing, that right now there are no games for PS3, that show full potential of the console.
On PS3 you can install other OS, such as Linux Yellow Dog, Ubuntu and others. Sony officially lets you do it. There is no such thing in 360.
PS3 HDD can be replaced easily with any 2.5" SATA 5400 RPM HDD (used in laptops). 250 GB will cost you around 170$. In 360 you have to buy exclusive HDD, where 20GB will cost you 100$.
Sony expects PS3 to stay on the market for, at least, 7-10 years. Also Sony reduces price now. Soon there is going to be cheaper 40GB version of PS3.
Sony constantly upgrades PS3 software (free updates for OS) - you get new functions and improvements.
PS3 controller (sixaxis) has a motion control - you move controller - game responds. Wii has it, Xbox 360 - doesn't. PS3 controller is getting vibrocontroller soon (Dualshock 3).
I didn't mention Wii, because it's so weak, no point to talk about it. Leave it for kindergarten and casual games.

A good gaming laptop will have better graphics, and you'll be able to browse the internet and use it as a normal computer too. But if you are only going to use it for gaming then don't get a laptop. They are way too expensive. But if you do need a laptop for university or something then that may be a good choice. My friend got a good gaming laptop for €850. For that price you can get a ps3/xbox and a good flat screen to play on. As for xbox vs ps3, ps3 is a lot better, in my opinion. 1) More exclusives. Games like Killzone, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Ratchet and Clank are really good. I have been playing Killzone 3 online for a while now and im completely hooked! 2)Better graphics- In my opinion 3)Blu-ray. Watching blu-ray DVDs on a HD tv is amazing! 4)Less likely to be faulty. Although the new Xbox's are meant to be more reliable than the old ones. 5)You can run linux on it. 6)Psn is free. I don't understand why everyone says Xbox live is better, i can play online with my friends on psn and chat with them aswell all for free. I don't see why i should have to pay €50 per year for it. You will have to pay more for a ps3 than an Xbox but you will not be disappointed. My friends and I have both consoles and yet we are always playing Ps3.

don't listen to bull goose looney. Something doesn't win a console war because it's better, it wins because it's cheaper and has more/better games. so what if the ps3 has blu-ray, free internet, computer, 50 gb of space on eahc disk. It is still WAY more expensive than a xbox 360. the xbox 360 has great games and it is very fun to play them. that's what GAME consoles should be about. plus, the xbox 360's graphics are currently better than the ps3's because nobody knows how to make great games on the ps3 because of the new technology. also, barely anyone is buying it because it is so expensive.
xbox 360 will win the console war because it has better graphics, better games, and better gameplay. ps3 will lose because it is overpriced and the focus is more on the features, not the games/gameplay itself.

i have to say 360 because it just has better games yes they do have i higher rate of malfunctioning but that is caused by the speed at wich they were made because there was a major lack in demands also if your 360 does malfunction microsoft will take full responsibility and fix it besides halo 3 is on the 360 along with gears of war and assasins creed will be coming out soon so in my eyes where can you go wrong with a 360 also the wii is doing better than both so actually the war is between wii and 360 now in my personal opinion i say 360 because i see the wii as more of a party game also i have to agree with mikester because consol wars are not won by useless features they are won by the games(varitety, new gen gameplay, and overall storyline) therfore i must say 360!!

Xbox 360 has better graphics because people don't know how to program the PS3 properly and the SDK is poor.
Unlike the others above, I back up my claims (see link below). Sorry to you PS3 lovers.
Although the PS3 has BluRay, for games access the Xbox 360's DVD drive reads data off the disc almost TWICE AS FAST as the Bluray which stores more data though.
Warhawk was suppose to be THE game to hurt the Xbox 360, but although the cut-scenes look good (anyone can CGI for any console) the game itself sucked and is off the charts already.

Although, the PS3 is an impressive entertainment machine, Sony lacks game designers to make more original and popular games for it. (I'm sorry. I can't wait for months up to over a year to play a original PS3 game that their still working on and maybe won't come out) If you see the PS3 commercials on TV, you see that they have the PS3 console displayed in each and every one of them. It's like they want to divert your attention away from the fact they lack the games for it and focus on the machine itself. (Sorry. Copying and making games that the 360 came out with first doesn't count. Nor coming out with a game that is available for all consoles.) As far as the gaming factor is concerned, the XBOX 360 wins that part of this console war.

Right now the graphics are about the same. But, if Heavenly Sword is any indication, the PS3 is about to take a huge lead.
EDIT: Hacked Off says the cut scenes for Warhawk looked good...huh??? There are no CGI cut scenes for Warhawk. There are no cut scenes at all. All you saw was gameplay footage...and yes, it does look good. It plays good too. Warhawk has a few hundred thousand people online and it barely got any publicity. Imagine if Sony tried to sell systems with it like MS did with Halo 3.

listen, the ps3 has way more potential than the 360, although the 360 has better games and is a way better system, give the ps3 six months and you'l see its graphics are far better.

You can read this article from Gamespot.com. This is kind of old though, so you need to take it with a grain of salt. It does show a good comparison between the two consoles graphically.
