I bled really heavy when I first started but it didn't last that long. The one problem with that heavy of bleeding for so long is she can become anemic. So if she is tired and fatigues easily then take her to a Gyno and they can put her on BC pills for a month or so to stop it.

Oh I do feel for you - I've got this to come, my daughters
nearly 11.
Mothers instinct is to say - ignore the doctors advice!
Usually when you first start your periods, they are scanty,
so for her to be bleeding heavily after two weeks would
concern me.
Ask for another opinion, or for an appointment to see the
practise nurse. You did not say whether it was a male or
female doctor (I know it shouldn't make a difference)
but perhaps if your daughter saw a female she would be
a bit more sympathetic and be able to give you more
reassurance than you have right now.
Lots of TLC (goes without saying really) for your daughter
poor thing. Good Luck.
Minxy.

Listen when i frst had mah periods it also ran for quite a long time so there is nothing to worry. If the doctor is not bothered and if u feel she is having loads of problem with having her periods treat her with some light medicine which will stop her periods for a time and again in the next month she'll have her periods but the date may get changed as she having it new, so nothing to worry.

2 weeks? That is a bit weird. But if you've seen the doctor there's not much you can do, other to make sure she can deal with the bleeding, and pain if there is some.

Hormones can be very weird in teenagers but if it keeps going I really think you should go back to the doctor, maybe even seek a second opinion. Even if it's "normal", she could still be at risk for anaemia or something.

You can try increasing the level of iron she is taking in right now by having her eat things like spinach, raisins, and peanut butter (if not allergic to peanuts of course). I would also recommend getting another opinion and preferably from someone that does not share the same office of the doctor you currently see. For the gynecologist if you decide to take her to one I would recommend a female doctor for this because it will be her first visit. She will feel more comfortable with talking to a female doctor about this.

I don't think it's a problem. They can be very up and down when first starting and eventually should settle into a routine. Your doctor is probably right, but if another couple of weeks pass then go and see him again. If there aren't any unusual pains then I shouldn't worry.

give her lots of sympathy and try and get her lots of iron to stop her from becoming aneamic due to all the blood loss, this is found in green veg, or i think in dietary suppliments. i'd strongly suggest seeing another doctor, 2 weeks is a long time to be bleeding heavily. good luck peacex

you may circulate to the surgeon, it may be anemia, hemmoraging, or only heavy sessions. it type of sounds such as you're too youthful for fibroid tumors, which could have been my first wager in case you have been over 40.
