I have a JCV UX-p55 micro component system. The main unit will turn on an it thinks its playing something but there is no sound. I have checked and there are NO DODGY CONNECTIONS with the speakers. The speakers are in perfect condition and have not been blown.

P.S The main system still works because i can plug in an amplifier into the headphone sockets and it works.

It sounds like the output board from the DAC (digital to analogue converter) in the CD player has packed up.

The cost of a new one will be more expensive than replacing the whole system.

If it's not skipping then it's probably not the laser or mechanism wearing out. Check that you don't have a tape monitor button pressed or something daft like that.

Found a fault report online stating that the laser had stopped working completely, this could be your fault and is not worth fixing, although if you can hear the CD playing through the headphones then the CD part is working fine. Try some different speakers.

Check the setting of any A-B speaker buttons which would turn off the speakers for headphone listening. Failing that get a new one theyre cheap as chips these days except chips often sound better.
