I am a bit confused. Have you starred a question identical to this? Anyway, I prefer answering yours as being in your contacts.
When a similar question has been posted recently, I do not continue with mine. If I really need an information, I address to those similar questions in case I find a proper answer. Otherwise, I rephrase a little and post my question as usual.

Every person, even if the question is identical, is looking for a different answer. As well as every answer has something else to give. I am not influenced when I see similar or even identical question. I keep on posting mine.

I never read any of the answers that are already posted, I just write what I want to, and then I check out some of the other answers. If mine is the same as others, then oh well.

As I know, Yahoo has more than 5 000 000 users and it is presumably fact to find similar questions
If you see my/your answers, we are going to find many repeated questions, not because they are copied but because we are human and we have most likely the similar thoughts.
But of course it isn’t usual to find your question in other category “Pregnancy” posted by a bear

If I see a VERY similar q. already posted, I lose all my enthusiasm about asking!! So , either I change the question into something totally different, or I do not ask a thing. ;)

It would only stop me from asking mine if it got an answer that satisfied my curiosity. This has happened every time I've had a question so I have never asked one yet.
But if it's a question like "what are you guys doing right now?" then that's one I'd continue with.

...it depends...I'll look to see when and where the question was last posted and if it received a good response...if the question was asked fairly recently, I will most likely avoid asking it again...once, I asked a question that was almost exactly the same as another P&S'er at the same time...the folks that answered were good about it, and cracked jokes...the other asker actually answered "my" question too

My questions are unique because very very few dare posting so open minded and free questions about men and sex. I post mine, as they come into my mind and I do not change them.

I post mine bc I'm interested in getting the answers...sometimes you get different answers since it's different people who answer your q.
