In some countries it is illegal to sleep in a campervan, and so also in a housetruck, unless you are on a campsite, and is it enforced.
Each Easter time the Dutch police is waking up the people in campervans all along the coast. The mostly German people in them would claim not knowing it is illegal, but they would still have to move on in the middle of the night, after paying a big fine.

So better check with the local laws, or ask advice from fellow housetruck owners. (I would be surprised if there is no forum for them.)

If you are travelling with a campervan you are technically required to use a specially designated area for campervans.

However nobody truly cares if you just park roadside for the night as long as you move on the next day and are not too obvious about it (ie no breaking out of the lounging chair and no barbecue).

The only danger is that in some areas prostitutes use campervans parked roadside for their business. So if you do the same the police might come knocking to check your papers or (worse) a pimp might show up to teach you a lesson. (Never mind potential customers.) It is thus safer to use the designated areas.

The national automobile clubs usually publish annual guides to all camping sites and campervan parks in Europe, often sorted by region or country. You can find them in any larger bookstore in Europe.
