i have DSL through time warner and i want to use certain programs tht i cannot use with a wireless router box, well i don't need the wireless i have a desktop whti want to know is if i take my ethernet cable out of my wireless router and put it in the actual "CABLE/DSL" box will i be ok? best answer goes to most detailed thanks in advance

This is what im getting from you I think.

You have a router connected to your DSL modem. You dont want to use the router.

Then all you need to do is connect DSL modem straight to the computer you want to connect to the internet.

You may need to install some software to configure your computer to access the internet tho. This should have been given to you when you received your modem.
