wow. your answers eerily reflect mine. I live on Long Island, NY...when getting onto a major parkway I once saw a grey fox running acrosst the little spit of grass between the road and the ramp! It was really weird! It seemed so much bigger than I expected and also...almost ghost like, with it's colors and long body. I really had no idea we had such creatures around here. Made me happy though.
When I was upstate, I once saw a beaver in a river....again, this was odd, on account of I'd never seen one before and also, I don't think they were supposed to still be in that area.
Cool question.

A wolf, oh wait- that was actually in my backyard and he was our pet. We told people he was an Alaskan Malamute.
I've seen bald eagles, several whales, owls, hawks, falcons, skunks, and a horny sea lion.
Edit: and since I lived near the Arboretum I have had dozens of peacocks on my roof and on my patio. One tried to get into my car as I drove by him on my way to work.

I've seen all kinds of wildlife in my neighborhood. Skunks, opossums, deer, raccoons and wild turkey. The strangest thing I've seen was when I was getting a ride with my friend and told him to slow down so he wouldn't hit the dog in the road, but when we got closer to it it turned out it was a bobcat!

I've seen so many! Hard to say which was the most unusual, but a flock of wild turkeys, that was pretty neat.

I've seen a red fox, coyote, opposum, and turkeys. Oh yeah, we also have racoons and I did see a groundhog a couple weeks ago.

A turtle in the bushes...we took care of it for a day and let it go. And I've seen a dead jellyfish, dolphins, and a rattlesnake in our parking lot.

Without a doubt, it's got to be a chupacabra. Those things are "make your neck hairs stand up" unusual.
