A lock on a desk drawer at work only serves to keep the honest people honest. Anyone who wants to commit an act of crime is going to do it regardless. Nobody can control others and their thought process. It's more of a parental guidance or lack thereof.

It comes down to risk and benefits or the percieved risks and benefits. I just got done using this statement for another question not too long ago. If you are mentally unstable due to a huge amount of stress etc your view of risk to benefit is skewed. It is only after you find yourself sitting in a jail cell that the full picture begins to unfold. When people are in an uncontrollable rage they are not dealing with a full deck. They are dealing with an unhealthy level of fight or flight. They zone out. They get the thousand yard stare. The risk isnt percieved on the level of reality until later.

I my opinion all teaching of honesty and rightful behaviour is done before the age of 12. So office psychopaths are almost born.

I always thought it was better explained by fear of the unknown.

I mean, that guy's a raging psycho on a normal Tuesday.
What's he going to do if I *fire* him?

It's probably better to keep him in the office and let him do his business on your desk than to unleash him on the masses...

That's why you should avoid the sharks when you swim and stay under the radar. Because it takes one to know one.

Not really. But it -does- help explain how they get away with as much as they do.
