I remember you were the asker who wanted to know how to spend a vacation in the Philippines, and I suggested you start with Metro Manila.

Well, now I would suggest that you stay in Makati, which is the Central Business District, even if you are just coming here for a holiday. Makati has all the comforts and conveniences, and is de facto nerve center of the country. It is also a short ride to the tourist destinations within Metro Manila. You can book the best and most expensive 5-star hotel (Shang ri La Makati), or book a room in the less expensive accommodations like pension houses.

If you can afford mid-level budgets, I would suggest you book at Prince Plaza in Greenbelt. That way, you are right within the most exciting part of the city, paying less than half of what you will spend in top hotels. Greenbelt is the nightlife capital of the Philippines - - - with all the restaurants and bars, and shops.

My house,...friendly poeple, nice food and 1st class accomodations.. but since its not a hotel guess it's not an option..
Makati with it's 5 star hotels is a good place to stay especially if you are gonna be in MM on a business trip. However, it is not the culturally representative city.
Manila itself has lots of nice hotels for all types of budgets
Depends really on the purpose of the trip and your own personal standards.
If it is a vacation, outside metro manila would be a better destination for you. Good luck

depends on your activities why you're in the metro... all places are accessible by cab or jeepneys and if you're ready to hike up and down in the metro there's always the LRT and MRT.

at the end of the day after all the traffic, sweat and what have you - you want to relax in your room and take a long bath so choose hotels with a view so i suggest you get a place along the Manila Bay area and you're walking distance to many chill out places and further relax

Yes, like everybody says it depends on why you are here and what you want to see. If I was visiting, I would stay in Makati. For me it is the most "walk-friendly" part of Metro Mla (besides Rockwell) with a lot to see and do right by your hotel. If money is no object ($175+ a night) there are some great, great hotels there.

The main purpose of going to manila is have work, nothing in provinces except farming, and thats a hard job. And manila is paying more than the provinces. Its true manila is hell, but what you can do if that is their source of income.
