Some have a If you aren't with us your against us mentality. Other think it because they don't know any better.
Those who simply don't know don't bother me. It's the ones who HAVE been informed and choose to stay willfully ignorant that bother me.

I believe it is because people fear what they do not understand.. And in the eyes of Christianity people who can make things happen in our lives and the lives of others ( Witches / Wizards ) are labled as Devil Worshippers because it is believed in their religion that only The God of Abraham and his son can do this, so if a human can they must worship Satan, they must be evil, working for the other side..I hope that makes sense.

Myself and most all the Witches I know do not even believe in Satan, How could a fallen angel suddenly become a God or have the strength and powers of a God?
Speaking in general on a subject like this is rather difficult for no one can speak for the majority..

As for the comment that this question was referring to Wiccans.. Not all Witches are Wiccans and Not all Wiccans choose to practice The Craft, some just perform rituals, Cleansings and so forth.. They choose to practice just the spirituality of the religion, Wicca is very eclectic and that is why for most people I know we have choosen this path in life...Not all Christians practice the Sacraments, do they?

But back to the question, yes I think it is just fear of the unknown, Most Christians do not know any Witches and do not understand the craft is all about, they are going by what they are told by their Pastors or Preachers who i'm sure do not know any Witches either, and they go by what the bible teaches.. if you are not worshipping their God then you are worshipping evil..

ok. first of all its accept, second of all i am not a christian so i don't know. i'm a Wiccan as you might put it, and i know that Wicca is probably the furthest you can get from devil worship. Some do actually believe this but some don't and littlemissshame pointed out. the whole witches worship devils subjected has been so shoved into history people aren't just bothered to correct it. It is sad, for Wiccans/Witches do not need this.

First off not all christians believe that. I have met a number of christians who are very open minded about it and honestly want to understand what its about. Second the ones who do not ACCEPT that witches don't worship the devil have multiple reasons. The biggest would be ignorance about it. They are taught not to learn about any religion other than their own. The other reason would be that they honestly feel that the bible tells them that anyone who practices witchcraft is a worshiper of satan. Its sad but its true and it all comes down to ignorance among those people. Like I said though not ALL christians are like this.

Is the question your asking why do most Christians believe that wiccans are witches and think that it is a Devil worshiping religion..
I am christian but i know some Wicca beliefs and the main reason most Christians believe that is because it is a more of a fact that we don't know what it is ..

Have you ever explained it to any christian??

Why limit this question to just witches being painted that way?

Many Christians cannot accept that POLYtheists who worship Gods other than theirs are NOT worshipping the Christian Devil.

Yes they do. There's a difference between wiccans and witches, anyway. Wiccans don't worship the devil, but there are types of sects of witches that are devil worshippers.

SOME witches do worship the devil but not all.
History does push towards witches worshiping the devil.
But it didn't take much for a woman to be branded a witch in those days either.
There's white/good,grey/neutral and black/evil magic so it really depends what magic you practice as to who you worsip as a witch.
Most christians believe if you're not christian you're damned to hell anyway

Because according to the bible if you do not worship God in his way you are worshiping the devil. That even includes others who call themselves Christian but stray from biblical teaching. The bible is interpreted many ways even though it claims to be clear and precise.
