My new pc configuration is,
core 2 duo E4500, 2.2GHz processor
1GB DDR2 SDRAM,
DG31PR motherboard
DVD RW
250 GB SATA Hard Disk.
Actually, my motherboard supports 24 pin power supply for the motherboard. but my power supply is having only 20 pins. and i connected this 20 pin power input to the motherboard. i bought the new costly ATX cabinet ( A Open ). i wanna know this power supply is enough for my pc or i need much more strong power supply. One of my friend told that this power supply is enough for my pc & this 20 pin supply has the capable of giving as much as power of 24pin. please suggest me.
i planned to install Win XP & Vista . i use my pc for few multimedia ( photoshop, video editing) and some gamings ( nfs carbon, cricket , hitman etc).
thankx

As long as your power supply also has the 4 pin 12VATX power connector that should plug on the socket at right portion of motherboard in above photo, your set up should work. You might only encounter a problem once you plug in a discrete video card that draws power mainly through the motherboard.

Assuming you don't have a power-sucking video card, you should be fine. You'll need to tell us the watts of your current power supply, but I suspect it will be more than enough.

Btw, check if your power supply has a 4-pin input that could be used with the 20-pin. 20+4 = 24 :) If the motherboard says it needs it, you'd better have it.

Your power needs with that setup are quite modest. Any decent 300-350 watt power supply should run your system fine. If the system boots ok with the 20 pin connector, then you should be fine.
