From what I've read, it sounds like jealousy, pure and simple. There was a girl at the party he liked and it bothered him that she was there with somebody else. I know certain details will change as more of the story comes out but this is what I've read so far.

no one has an answer to your question. guaranteed. human psyche. Freud the father and inventor of psycho could not answer that question either. to sum up -- the human psyche is a complex and complicated organ or mechanism or program --if we knew or law enforcement people knew how it functions it would prevent. i call it crazy -- and it cracked for reasons unknown, love, hate, power, money, celebrity...unfortunately and to everyone regret Innocent lives end abruptly. I am going to opt for living on an island --alone with my dog. hope it helps.

You said it all, He was a "Young Man" who was much to Young, or experienced to be a Law Enforcement Officer, carrying a sidearm.
He displayed neither good wisdom, nor good judgment, and simply snapped, it could happen to anyone.
In a Godless society it can happen more often.

Yep, I just heard about that from cnn.com... Looks like a case of jealousy... He was 20 and the people he killed were all kids, in their teens... It's unfortunate that people think life is so horrible they need to kill others or themselves.
