It's very hard to compare 1950 to 2007 but I would start
PG-Magic Johnson: change the way the game was played at the point position.
SG-Jordan: enough said.........
SF-Larry Bird: great shooter, tough to stop
PF-Mail Man Malone, put up 25 or more points through his career
C- Shaq: Most dominating force from 1993-2004
I almost agree with KG only if he had a point guard like

C- Shaquille O' Neal - The single most unstoppbale player in the sport. Unstoppable. Period.
PF - Tim Duncan - Changed the way PF is viewed. A team Player who is willing to sacrifice his stats to win the ultimate goal.
SF - Larry Bird - Another Mr. Triple double. Best clutch player. Ever. Period.
SG - Michael Jordan - Influenced most of today's NBA players. "Greatest Basketball Player" by acclamation, heck even Red Auerbach, the Boston patriarch gives the nod for that acclamation.
PG - Magic Johnson - Triple Double guy (research for the 1980 Finals for full view of the wreakage this man has done to the Sixers). Powered the Lakers to beat Boston in the Finals.... The only Laker team in decades to beat a Celtic team in the Finals.

If you want to get technical and say Russell is a C and not a PF, I would put Tim Duncan in that spot.

Center - Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Power forward - Tim Duncan.
Small forward - Larry Bird.
Shooting guard - Michael Jordan.
Point Guard - Magic Johnson.
It's hard to leave off Oscar, Wilt, Russell, Karl Malone, etc...but I'll go with the above starting five.

Popularity aside,
PG-Walt Frazier
SG-John Havlicek
SF-Larry Bird
C/PF-Bill Russell
C-Bill Walton
Yes, yes i know its very white and chock full of Celtic players (im thinking Walton when he was still a healthy Trailblazer and Hondo only BARELY edges out Jordan for the SG spot because of his stamina) but this is MY mythical 5. A runnin' gunnin' team that plays suffocating defense and when theyre not running the break they play a halfcourt game characterized by fluid and creative passing.
