I have both liquid and powder foundation. I was wondering if you would apply them both to get fuller coverage. But before applying foundation do you have to apply else to your skin. I keep hearing about concealer and (tinted) mosturizer.
-is concealer the same as/equal to liquid foundation??
-is moturizer very essential to apply b4 foundation??
sorry to ask so many questions. i'm a newbie to makeup. Thanks a lot!

1) Concealer is thicker than foundation. It is designed to hide discolored areas & blemishes. It's optional.

2) If you have dry skin, then moisturizer will help plump up your skin so you can apply the foundation smoothly. It is optional - especially if your foundation has SPF.

3) You can wear liquid or powder foundation. Wearing them together might look too heavy & lead to the foundation caking.

4) Easiest technique: Apply 4 dots of foundation on your face - forehead, cheeks, & chin. Blend w/ foundation sponge or brush.

Before you do anything wash and moisturize your face. The extra moisture will help your makeup to go on smoother and give you a little more glow. But in answer to your question directly, no it is not essential per se, however if you ask me it is!

Concealer is not the same as liquid foundation. It has much more coverage and is used to cover under eye circles and redness where foundation just isn't enough.

As for applying powder foundation over liquid. . . I think you'll run the risk of looking overly made-up. If the powder is sheer enough you might be okay. Give it a try and see, if not a sheer loose powder that matches your foundation will give you a good set!

Before applying foundation, wash your face with a mild cleanser and moisturize. After the moisturizer has absorbed, cover any blemishes with concealer. Pat concealer down with finger gently. Now using a sponge, foundation brush, or fingers, apply liquid foundation, blending at the edges of your face. Cover eyelids also. Set with translucent powder. Alternately, you can use a powder, cream-to-powder, or mousse foundation. Don't layer two foundations. If you want heavy coverage, get a liquid foundation labelled full coverage.

*Primer- always prime no matter what key to looking your best, it can also take the place of moisterizer!
*Concealer-for dark circles and blemishes
*Foundation-only use the needed coverage, do not layer on!
*Yes, always apply moisterizer before the application of foundation, if you don't your face will not be as soft and have a healthy glow!
