They don't actually die from the salt. The salt dehydrates them so they shrival up and may look dead, but after a while, the slimy mucus pushes the salt back out, and they slug off somewhere else.

Pulls the moisture/water out of their tiny little bodies. Water flows in the direction of greater to lesser so the salt is like a magnet to the water.

cuz they're more of a fresh water sort of insects... just like earth worms.. salt absorbs water from their bodies..
