yes to an extent. but when the substance or amount of a substance you put in your body affects you in a way that may put yourself or other people at risk it becomes a whole different issue. some drugs are more dangerous than others. thats why some, like tobacco and alcohol (to a certain extent) are legal and others aren't.

That is becuase other drugs like cocaine, crack and drugs like that are very addictive cause most people to not function very well in the real world (trouble keeping a job) thus many resort to other crimes to support thier habit such as robbing people.
Plus the medical problems are greater with those drugs cuasing more health problems than the other ones you mentioned.
Plus the actions the people have while on them.

Every time the government does something for you, a bit of freedom is lost. That is not always a bad thing.
In Canada, where the government provides medical insurance for people. it is important to remember that the premiums do not begin to cover the actual cost of the services provided. Therefore, whenever someone does harm to himself or herself (substance abuse, no motorcycle helmet) etc, the medical bill gets passed to the taxpayers. We therefore have a responsibility to look after ourselves and not make our neighbours pay for our nonsense.
The same argument is true, although to a lesser extent, in the US.

You have the freedom to follow the Democratically enforced laws of the country you are in.
Failing to do that you have the right to be placed in a correctional institution for anti-social behavior
Your Pro-Drug rant will not get you any sympathy here.

Yes. No one has to live in that body but you. In fact, I'll take this one step further. I should also have the freedom to not have to pay for other's health care either. If one lives an unhealthy lifestyle, he should be left to deal with it - not me. You reap what you sow.

This is a democracy. Most people think some things (alcohol and tobacco) are okay to use, while other things (marijuana and heroin) are not okay. Change the minds of enough people, and the laws change...It's pretty simple.
