There has always been this sense of pride amongst Hispanics of all nations. There pride in Spanish, Spanish culture, Catholicism, etcetera... So strong is this pride that it has created a whole sub-culture of Hispanic life.

But isn't being proud of speaking Spanish, reveling in Spanish culture, and Praising your catholic faith like saying "Hey Cortes' thanks for coming here, kicking our butts, eliminating our culture, raping our women, and reducing us to third world nations by stealing all of our gold, and erasing our history"

Spanish is the language of your conquers, Jesus, THEIR, god. Meso America once had strong and mighty cultures in the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas. And all that was lost to Spain and yet you sit and revel in your "Spanish heritage".

Please Explain....

Number of problems with your question.

"Pride" is a fairly universal human characteristic. It's not special to certain people like Hispanics.

Pride does not create culture.

Hispanic culture is not a "sub-culture."

Speaking a language isn't any more a sense of pride for Spanish-speakers than for you or me. It's how we communicate, so we just do it without really thinking. Neither on a daily basis, nor looking back on our lives, is it ever a direct source of pride at all.

Spanish culture exists in Spain. Hispanic culture exists in the Americas. Hispanic and Spanish are not synonyms. Only the name of the language (Spanish) applies to both cultures. Just because they share a (roughly) same language doesn't mean their cultures are the same, or even very similar.

"Hispanics" distance themselves from the Spaniards once every year (Columbus Day - where they become "evil YTs" like the rest of us for the day) - other than that, they're busy hijacking the (European) Spanish culture because they have none of their own with the exception of human sacrifices.

EritreanDiamond - if blacks are kings/queens, then whites (and pretty much everybody else for that matter) are GODS - it would do you well to remember your place.

I think you make great points. I would say the people that took over had great propaganda and people like to be on the side of a 'winner.' (the person in charge.)
