Would it be fair to say that the only difference is that in a communist gov't the people know they have no say on who their leaders are or the policies they implement---and in a capitalist gov't the people still have no say but they are tricked into believeing that they do have a say by being able to vote and the perception that the parties and leaders they vote for are actually different from one another but in reality they are just the same?

That would be democracy vs. communism. Our two parties are controlled by the same wealthy group in New England. I agree with your assessment.

No, it would not be fair to say that. You are confused. Go--try out a communist country and see how you like it. As you're leaving, bend over and kiss your vote and your incentive to work and earn money and your rights good-bye.

Yes, you have been lied to by the current administration and yes it did steal elections but democracy can be self-correcting. Next time, next election we have to make sure that what happened within these eight years never happens again.

Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.

Capitalism is an economic system and has nothing to do, per se, with voting. Further, both systems exist in various forms. Communism is usually just state socialism, since a true communist society is virtually impossible. As for capitalism, there is protectionism/state capitalism (which most democratic nations utilize), corporatism, and free market capitalism.

In the context you seem to be referring to, the dichotomy between "communism" (i.e. state socialism) and "capitalism" is merely one of degree. Communist states centralize the economy in total or near totality, whereas capitalist states feature less centralization but maintain control with licenses, regulations and tariffs. This is sometimes called "cronyism."

Your question begs for clarification.

Capitalism and communism are not equivalents. Free-enterprise capitalism is a natural economic system, endemic to nature. Communism is an artificially constructed economic/political/religious absolutist system.

Free enterprise capitalism creates wealth by providing incentives to hard working individuals, and this wealth is then distributed by merit. It's natural economics.

Communism takes existing wealth and distributes it based on need. Since this cuts down on the incentive for individuals to work hard or take risks, Communism uses the coercive power of the state to force people to "generate." That's why all Communist governments are Totalitarian when it comes to politics and religion.

Suffice to say that Communism is State Capitalism, a monopoly, and therefore does not have the virtues of incentives, competition and freedom that make Free-Enterprise Capitalism so successful.

The short answer is that communism doesn't work, and free-enterprise capitalism does.

Captialism and communism have little to do with the party system...if you want to break it down to its most basic form:

Capitalism = You work hard you earn more. If you try to better yourself through education, determination and a little extra effort than your neighbor, you will obtain more.

Communism: Everyone receives the same thing regardless of how hard they work. Thus there is no motivation to work hard or excel in a commuist system of government.

You could google it and find more eloquent explanations but that is how I would explain it if I had 1 minute.

no the same situation could happen in a fascist govt. which is the polar opposite of communism...but Capitolism in essence is supporting the markets, the economy...the problem i have with that is well you can have a flourishing market and there can be a war happening...something like Genocide is not a market failure, it's a humanitarian failure, but it's not a market failure, typically markets flourish under these conditions, and i think corporations must have limitations set on them by government, that's why i'm not capitolist
