Owning/possessing and purchasing have different age requirements in most states. For example, in most states you have to be 18 to purchase a rifle or shotgun, but 21 to purchase a handgun. To possess a rifle of shotgun(in most states), you can be ANY age(gun could be gifted or given). To posses a pistol you have to be 18.

You have to 21 for hand guns, 18 for shot guns, rifles, and I believe it is 16 for bb and pellet guns.
You shouldn't need a CCW, to keep a gun in your home just get a shot gun or rifle.

The "Best Answer" is not true, you have to be that age to buy one. If someone of age bought the gun, they can gift it to you if you are under the age,and it is legal. Also check state laws, it varies but what I said is nationwide. It all depends on what state.

If you are only going to use the firearm at home, no need for a concealed carry permit. If you are going to carry it most places with you, then you need a concealed carry permit.

18 is the federal legal age to purchase rifles and shot guns. 21 for pistols and revolvers. If you want to carry any other weapon, such as a stun gun or baton, then double check with your local police department as to what is legal to carry and the legal age to own.
