My partner and I are new to Darwin and really want to see some Aboriginal rock art, it can be anywhere within the NT region?

The closest places with rock art to Darwin are in Kakdu National Park. From personal experience I can recommend going to the following places (Ubirr Rock and Nourlangie Rock provide a more convenient access as well as more tourists).

Ubirr Rock: http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/kakadu/artculture/art/ubirr.html
Nourlangie Rock: http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/kakadu/artculture/art/nourlangie.html
Nanguluwur art site: http://www.environment.gov.au/parks/kakadu/artculture/art/nanguluwur.html

The Arnhem Land escarpment which is within the Kakadu National Park. Rock art is completely protected and in many instances you need permission to go anywhere near it. The easiest way to see it is to go with an organised trip. There is also rock art near Katherine and at Uluru.

Hi,

There's plenty of places to see some. Best place to go is to any of the National Parks in Northern Territory either in the Top End ie.. Darwin region or you can drive down to Alice Springs to Central Australia and there are plenty of rock art there as well.

lots of accessible rock art can be seen in Kakadu at Nourlangie Rock or Ubirr and in Katherine at Katherine Gorge. You don't need to be part of an organised tour to see them.
