a nitrous purge line is there to remove the nitrous gas from the lines before racing. then when the nitrous is hit, the engine gets liquid nitrous.

It's not steam, it's nitrous oxide venting using a purge valve for the NOS system --it's hooked up to hoses that are placed to make it look like it's snorting....pretty cool looking. Guys running nitrous oxide usually purge the lines before racing so one way to vent them is to hook up the purge lines like they did in the movie.

It's proper name is nitrous oxide. Stupid ricers call it nos. Either way it was probably fake just like the movie was.
