It sounds like your missing a codec or your audio hardware software is not installed.

First do this. Go to Control panel then click on system.
Then click on hardware tab then device manager.

Then check under sound, video game controllers And uninstall your audio device And then reboot and it will find the audio device and reinstall all the software.

Or if when you get into device manager. And there is a Device with a yellow Circle with an ! on it means there is no driver loaded and you have to install the driver again.

Go by the model of your pc to get the driver and go to The manufacture's website to get it.

Or if there is a Disabled device it will have a RED X on it open the device and enable it.

These steps should fix it.

And if your missing a codec

Go to Google and type in codec pack and install the codec pack with default options.

Go to Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control and make sure none of the mute boxes are checked. Also make sure your headphones are not plugged into the compter.
