No I never could, my fifth grade teacher was a rubiks genius, even behind the back and he vowed to teach me, but I only went into him once. The first lesson is to do it by levels not by side. You have to get all the colors (for each side) lined up in just the first row, and then you work up (you don't do it by the sides) anyways, that's what he said. But that's all the information I have for you, if you ever find the secret, I would like to know.
