okay so what do/ can i do? i'm filipino dating a mexican guy and my parents are really not happy about it.

they keep bad-mouthing mexicans (i don't think this though and was incredibly offended upon hearing this from them.) they say mexicans are dirty and lazy and all this bad stuff and they say it after i answer "yes" that i'm still seeing this guy. he's my bf but my mom keeps calling him "that man." and she keeps telling me to trust him and that we don't know him. but i've dated filipino guys and i just have to let them meet and they're pretty much okay!
i'm so annoyed. what do i tell them? anyone who's going through this "match-up"....

Having grown up in the Philippines, I can relate to you. You see, whether positive or negative, the elders' opinions are strongly voiced.

You simply have to show them that you are mature, that you appreciate their concern and you are willing to take action in order to make the relationship work.

You will encounter negativity from them but in time they will mellow. Do show them that you love not only your boyfriend but also your parents; that will melt your parents' hearts faster.

Good luck.

You have to decide whether you or your parents are in control of your happiness.

They are entitled to their opinions, no matter how wrong you and I feel they may be. Just be happy that you didn't inherit any of it.
