You should make a week chart write when they eat & when you do your water change it really helps. Don't do water change whenever you feel like it. Try doing 25% water change every week also when you feed him feed him 3 pellets & try bloodworms for treats. Look at your betta's before you buy them if your new try to find a healthy & research even if you had betta's before betta's are strong fish so you must be doing something wrong. You can go to your pet store in have them check your water then they'll help you if it's bad. See if your betta's are sick. They breath air so leave room or they will drown. Look for clues only you know.

most of my bettas have layed down at the bottom to sleep. it is kind of odd, most fist don't do this, but bettas do. I'm not sure about the big gills thing, so I would suggest going to Petco tommorow. They have always been really helpful with fish. They're better than PetSmart when it come to fish, but I don't suggest going there for small animals.

Did you slowly let him adjust to the new tank water? If not, it may be he was suffering from ph and or temperature shock. They need to be acclimated very slowly to any major water changes/differences.

Also, you said something about detoxifier? Did you add a chlorine and chloramine remover before adding him to the new tank?

1st off did you put any kind of warm water in your tank..
secondly did you put aqua safe in the water
last but not least you put the fish into shock if you just put him in another tank..without him getting used to the enviorment

It might be feeling a bit exposed. New tank, unfamiliar. Hugging a rock for shelter. This is possible. Nervous fish.

If you let the water gas off the chlorine and your temperatures were the same you should be alright. Just make sure your filters and pump are giving plenty of oxygen.

good luck.

he may just have been trying to find a comfortable place to sleep. some bettas are weird like that but I suggest you talk to your local aquarium store.
