Freedom and peace is fought for. It doesn't grow on trees. I don't like the consequences of war, but it's the reality of what needs to be done. I'm aware of how many Americans think that freedom would just come to us if we sat back and "left other countries alone." But by sheer, obvious logic, I know that they're wrong. We have enemies all around the world who would seize any opportunity to destroy any aspect of the United States that they could. And no, liberals, that isn't some little conservative conspiracy theory. It's a fact. Sometimes, war is completely necessary. Maybe the way that Bush went about going into Iraq wasn't the wisest prospect he could have chosen, but the principle of the thing is what matters; We need to fight Islamic terrorists before they come to fight us. Whether they're in Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan or anywhere else, they're still there, aren't they? They're still in existence, and they still seek to attack America. Just because they're maybe not DIRECTLY in Iraq in the EXACT location that the military is, you think there's no purpose for war in the Middle East?
We already learned the hard way about that with 9/11. I hope that this country understands the severity soon, before we have to learn that way again.

The Soldier above all others prays for peace for it is he that must suffer and bear the wounds and scars of battle. I'm a Soldier and have been for 20 years. War is not my idea of a good time, but it can become necessary in the defense of our freedoms and our way of life. I prefer to be at home with my wife and daughters. I don't enjoy living in harsh conditions without the simple luxuries most people take for granted, like flushing toilets. I do it because I believe in what I do and by serving, I may make a difference and save a life. I do it so that one day there may be peace and my children will grow up in safety. I speak from experience as a combat vet, a Soldier, a father, a husband, and one who is still suffering and bearing those wounds and scars of battle.

SHORT ANSWER-PEACE=DOVES /WAR= HAWKS
REALITY CHECK ANSWER:
HOPEFULLY EVERYONE WANTS PEACE? BUT IN REALITY THERE IS NEVER PEACE AS LONG AS THERE IS DISCORD.
THERE ARE THOSE WHO LIVE ON WAR--READ "THE ART OF WAR"--WAR BRINGS IN BIG BUCKS FOR THE MISSILE INDUSTRIES.
LETS TALK THE MIDDLE EAST--WHY ARE WE THERE? OIL, BUSH, DEMOCRACY, WORLD ORDER, RELIGIOUS FREEDOM?
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME. SO WHY DO WE THINK WE CAN BRING PEACE NOW.
MY OWN FEELING IS THAT IF WE TOOK THE GAZA STRIP--THE LANDS OF CHRIST AND THE HOLY LAND AWAY FROM THE MIDDLE EAST AND MADE IT A LAND FOR ALL TO EMBRACE, A LAND THAT THE WORLD OWNED THEN WE MIGHT SETTLE THE DISPUTE OF TIME ABOUT WHO OWNS WHAT? JUST A THOUGHT FROM AN OLD MAN.

We need peace and if we start by respecting other Countries and their Culture and Ways of thinking it would be a start. War terrorizes people. I am for World Peace.

Obviously, I'd rather have peace than war. War is hell: people die, rights are infringed upon, and general chaos tends to ensue. However, I don't want peace at any cost, especially at the cost of self-defense. If another nation attacks us, or if diplomacy doesn't stand a snowball's chance in Hell of solving a conflict, we need to be ready to defend ourselves.

Speak softly but carry a big stick - Teddy Roosevelt.
That's what Reagan used to bring an end to the cold war and the fall of the Berlin wall. Big stick is a universal language friend and foe understand. You don't have to use it, but you have to have it, that's what a**holes in places like Berkely and San Francisco are too stupid to understand.

You can't achieve peace through war any more than you can be friends with the bully by kicking his *ss in front of all his friends. You cant be friends with your next door neighbor by murdering his sons and raping his wife.
That being said TRUE world peace or even nationwide peace is a lofty goal and will never actually be realized, people are just too different.

Peace is what I prefer. This war is going to drag on and on and it's final destination is frankly not anywhere I want to be.
I get my opinion honest. My Father served 3 tours of Vietnam. My Mother grew up in post-WW2 Germany. I read a lot of history. I am no scholar. I don't pretend to know everything.
My gut tells me that THIS thing we are doing is wrong and the aftermath is going to plague us for decades to come.

I want peace because war has never really solved anything. War is nothing but a battle of words in my opinion. One has been defeated and thus cant carry on with his beliefs, but yet still it never proved anything it just makes peace the winner because the war minded person is now outspoken through the force of the war
