For decades they risked their lives and sacrificed time with their families countering the Soviet threat. Carter funded the Afghan defense against the USSR invasion and “rebels” waged civil war for their freedom. Yet according to neo-cons, the mighty Reagan conquered the Soviet Union with barely a whisper.

What message does this send to the people who sacrificed and really brought them down?

Counter Intel Agencies are not registered to answer questions here.

I would imagine that they would have a geopolitical view that would give Reagan's defense spending plan during the Cold War a share of the credit.

First, the US did not conquer the Soviet Union, it imploded on it's own with a lot of economic pressure being applied by the US.

Regan did make critical decisions regarding relations with the Soviet Union based on communications taps, see the book " Dead Mans Bluff". There were a lot of people involved but he did call the shots.

I doubt they care much, likely because they already know the truth -- which is that he didn't single-handedly wreck the Soviets, he just nudged them a little harder along the path they were already following.

no one CONQUERED the Soviet Union: it died from a busted financial belly and internal rot.

the fall of the soviet union was accelerated by the war in afghanistan. but the war in afghanistan also led to 911.

and 911 led to iraq even though they are not really linked. and iraq will lead to end of repub rule in america.
