Depends. The Brazilian rap I listen to are really good, very poetic, and are totally dedicated to the cause of bettering the lives of millions that live in poverty in the slums and the world. They address the stigmas of society, the good and bad, contribute to charities, and offer ideas to make the country better. Old school rap, and many underground rappers are pretty good too. Then there are the crappy rappers that rap about sex, violence, and immorality. It all depends. Rock is crap when the band sucks, and the same goes for all musical genres, including rap.

Nowadays Its Crap but back in the day was a differant story.. I still wouldnt call it poetry though!

Half of rap has meaning, if you listen to the lyrics, and other half is just crap. So it's a little bit of both.

I lost interest in rap about 10 years ago and while I don't like it, won't call it crap.

Ugggh, definitely crap.
I can't believe I used to listen to that crap when I was a teenager...
But that was back in the early 90's when some of it was actually good and I didn't know any better.
