Usually a dolly. Drive there, put the car's front end on the dolly, and drive back. Cheapest way.

The cheapest way is to advertise for college kids on the West Coast who are from the East Coast to drive your car as they go home for a holiday. Since perhaps four of them will be saving air fare one-way at least, they will usually do this for gas and tolls. Of course, you can catch college kids on the reverse trip as well ( West coast kids who go to Eastern colleges and are returning from holidays. ) There are campus services that hook up the various parties.

most likely the cheepest way is to drive it yourself unless you know of a motor carrier that specializes in car hauling. the fastest way would be by air transport.
