I grew up in northern Illinois and went to college in Iowa and large mum corsages at Homecoming were a feature in both places, usually school colors.

Wow - I'm from Michigan and have never seen such a thing before. For homecoming usually girls just wear their formal gear and maybe a corsage (usually a wrist corsage).

I live in El Paso, TX, and homecoming mums are still a very big homecoming tradition here also.

It's not just the south,but midwest too. Mums are the seasonal flower of fall. In Indiana they are the way we show off our fall colors.

We don't do that here in Montana. My school didn't have a formal dance during homecoming either...

i dont think thats every where in the south i lived in madison alabama and we did no such thing? tell the truth this is the first i hear of it
